Our commitment
JoyPass is built for meaningful moments, not advertising. We do not sell or rent your personal information, share it with advertisers, or use it to target ads. We do not show ads, and we have no plans to introduce advertising.
Running JoyPass does require some data: an account to sign in, a gift to deliver, or a photo you choose to save. This policy explains what JoyPass LLC collects through our iPhone and Android apps, App Clip, and website, why we use it, and the choices you have.
What we store
- Your account: name, email address, username, account ID, protected sign-in credentials, preferences, and an optional profile photo.
- Your gifts and connections: gifts you create or receive, senders and recipients, friends and friend requests, gift messages, delivery and redemption history, reactions, comments, plans, and reminders. Connections means people you connect with in JoyPass; we do not upload your phone’s address book.
- Your memories: text, selected photos, the experience date, optional location, and whether you say the sender was with you. We store the photos you choose to upload, not your entire photo library.
- Optional location: a place name, address, and coordinates when you choose to attach a location to a plan or memory. Using your current location requires your permission. We do not continuously track your location.
- Purchases: product, transaction, purchase-token, and credit records so we can verify purchases, deliver passes, and reconcile refunds. Apple handles App Store payments and Google handles Google Play payments. JoyPass does not receive your payment-card details from either store.
- Support and safety: messages, attachments, feedback, reports, and conversation status when you contact us or use those features.
- Service operation: sign-in sessions, notification tokens, app installation identifiers, Wallet device registrations, and technical request or error records, which may include IP addresses, app and device versions, request paths, and timestamps.
Why we use it
We use account and app information to operate the features you choose: create and deliver gifts, manage your connections, save shared memories, coordinate plans, send reminders and gift updates, maintain Wallet passes, verify purchases, and provide support.
We also use service records to secure accounts, prevent abuse, moderate reported or uploaded content, troubleshoot problems, and meet legal obligations. We do not use your private gifts, memories, photos, location, or conversations for advertising or build advertising profiles about you. We do not include a native advertising or product-analytics SDK. We do use operational request and error logs to diagnose reliability and security problems.
Who can see your information
Gift participants can see the content you share on their pass, including comments, memories, photos, and any location or attendance details you add. Profile and gift visibility also depend on the sharing settings you choose. Public content and public feedback may be visible to others. Share gift links carefully: a link or code can give its recipient access to a gift.
We use service providers for hosting, databases, photo storage, email, push notifications, payment verification, content safety, and support. They process information needed to provide those services. For example, support services may receive your account identifier, display name, and messages so we can keep your conversation together.
On Android, Firebase Cloud Messaging processes installation identifiers, notification tokens, and technical app information to deliver notifications. Notification previews may contain gift or plan details depending on the notification and your device settings. If you choose to add a pass to Google Wallet or Apple Wallet, the information displayed on that pass is provided to the selected Wallet service so it can display and update the pass.
We may also disclose information when required by law or when necessary to protect people, investigate abuse, or defend our rights. We do not disclose personal information to data brokers or advertising networks.
Website and browser storage
Our website uses browser storage to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and support chat. Hosting and support services also receive technical information needed to deliver the pages and conversations you request.
The website currently uses Umami and Hotjar for website usage measurement, including page analytics and session recording. These tools can process pages visited, interactions, browser and device information, and session information; session recordings can capture what is displayed on a page. This helps us understand how the website is used and identify usability problems. This website measurement is separate from the native app and is not used for advertising or tracking you across other companies’ apps and websites for advertising.
Retention and deletion
We keep account and feature data while it is needed to provide JoyPass. Shared gift history can remain available to other participants. Purchase, security, support, and other service records may be retained where needed to operate the service, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, or meet legal obligations.
Deleting your account revokes sign-in access, removes credentials and notification registrations, clears your profile and friend connections, and marks your account as deleted. Your authored comments, thanks, reactions, and plan notes are removed; saved locations you proposed are cleared. Gifts you created are made private and their personal title and artwork are replaced with an anonymous presentation. Their remaining uses and redemption history are preserved for the other participant. Profile photos, uploaded activity photos, and authored memories are removed through our cleanup process.
Other people’s contributions and copies they have already saved are not deleted. Limited purchase, fraud-prevention, security, dispute-related support, and legal records may be retained where necessary. Historical plan dates and redemption records can remain without your removed notes or location details. Restricted backups and historical service records are handled through our retention and deletion-request process; contact us to request review of any remaining personal information.
You can request account and data deletion on the web without installing the app. Contact us if you need help accessing, correcting, or requesting deletion of information that is not covered by the app’s controls. We will explain any information we need to retain and why.
Your choices
You can edit your profile and preferences, choose gift visibility, and edit or delete memories you added. You can decline optional photo, camera, location, or notification permissions, and change them later in your device’s Settings. Declining an optional permission only limits the features that need it; changing a permission does not erase content you already saved.
You can delete your account from the app’s account settings. To request access, correction, or deletion of personal information, or to ask a privacy question, email hello@joypass.co. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. Your privacy rights may vary depending on where you live.
Keeping you informed
We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date above. If a change materially affects how we use your personal information, we will provide notice through an appropriate channel, such as the app or email.
